Smith Island, Maryland  in the heart of the Chesapeake Bay.

Owner and hostess, Susan Evans is a thirteenth generation Smith Islander.  Most of her family still lives on the island. She has lived and worked on the island most of her life, doing various jobs, from babysitting as a teenager to waiting on tables and helping in and management of a Smith Island  restaurant.

" I have worked in Human Resources office at the local hospital in Crisfield since 2003, traveling by boat every day to the mainland so, I could say I enjoy meeting and greeting people. It is something I do everyday."

 " I bought the home when I was 19 . In the  winter of 2007,  I decide to do some renovations to the bungalow-style home built in 1949 and created a B & B."

And that she has done! Each room has a wonderful view of the water overlooking the Ewell harbor.  There are two rooms available with a shared bath. A cozy living room, dining room and a big screened-in porch that overlooks the water.

Island Time

Remove your watches turn off your cell phone, because time has no meaning when you are on  " island time".  If you love the outdoors, then you are going to enjoy passing your time away on the island! There is plenty to do and see:

•  Bring comfortable shoes. Take a walk around the town of Ewell and Rhodes Point (approximately 5 miles total) . Along your walk,  you may find over 300 species of beautiful birds. During the months of August and September butterflies migrate along our island.

•  Kayaking is perfect around Smith Island . Bring your own kayak (a modest $5.00 portage fee on the ferry). There are newly marked  trails with a map available for $3.00 (proceeds go towards the upkeep of these trails).

• Biking!!  Bikes are available for guests, or bring your own ($5.00 portage fee on the ferry).  

• Shopping: Our local gift shop and museum take credit cards, but it is wise to bring cash or your checkbook. With no shopping malls and just a couple of shops, ladies leave your purses behind!
